I work as the UK Focal Point on Drugs Co-ordinator and EDDRA manager, collating and presenting data and information on the UK drug situation to the European Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Drug Addiction (EMCDDA) based in Lisbon.
The UK Focal Point is responsible for undertaking a set of agreed core tasks for the EMCDDA, including the production of an annual report on the UK drugs situation. I work in partnership with Focal Point staff based at the Department of Health in London; government departments; the devolved administrations and drug experts on the production of this document. This year I am responsible for writing chapters in the annual report regarding the latest information and data on Prevention and Vulnerable Young People. EDDRA (Exchange on Drug Demand Reduction Action) is an online, searchable database of projects and programmes from across the EU aimed at reducing the demand for drugs covering areas such as prevention; treatment; harm reduction; social reintegration; and approaches specific to criminal justice settings. My role as EDDRA manager is to identify relevant and effective UK programmes and add them to the database.
In my previous job, I spent four years as a Marketing manager in the social housing sector, where I was responsible for conducting and reporting on quantitative and qualitative analyses into customer and staff expectations and service quality and developing performance monitoring strategies and systems.
