Michelle Wareing

I am a senior researcher within the substance misuse team and the NCCDP.  My role involves researching and writing reports relating to substance misuse issues.

My main research interest is looking at the effects the drug MDMA (‘ecstasy’) has on cognitive abilities.  I am currently working in collaboration with Edge Hill University and UCLAN on a longitudinal study investigating the effects ecstasy has on visuo-spatial working memory.

Before working at the Centre for Public Health, I was a lecturer in psychology and was completing my PhD which looked at the long term effects of the drug ecstasy on cognitive functioning.

Studies relating to recreational drug use.
